Need help with search language - Reporting for grant

Tara Kieffer -

This is a suggestion/question that came in recently from Sharon McNary.  I thought I would post it on the forums to get more thoughts and dialogue on reporting.

How would I search for sources that are new to the SCPR organization in
a certain time frame?

This search seems to show sources that are part of SCPR and were new
sources to AIR during March.

org_name=("SCPR") AND src_created_date=(( 20120301..20120331))

I want sources that were new to SCPR during March. Some of those might
have been part of another newsroom, but not in a relationship with SCPR
yet.

My response:

Hello Sharon -

I know reporting has been on a lot of folks minds these days. I am afraid I don't have a great solution at the moment short of having you log in the first of the month and searching without search criteria to capture the number of your available sources and comparing it with the previous month. That would give you the net gain not the just the new to SCPR.

To explain your potential searches:

--org_name=("SCPR") AND src_created_date=(( 20120301..20120331))
This is going to give you all the folks who were created(new to PIN) in the month of March and have opted in to SCPR. They may or may not have SCPR as their home organization.

--newsroom=("SCPR") AND src_created_date=(( 20120301..20120331))
This is going to give you all the folks who were created(new to PIN) in the month of March and have SCPR as their home organization.

The home organization for the most part is defined when the user enters the PIN based on the query they responded to. Sources with a Source account can change their home organization/primary newsroom at any time by logging in and setting newsroom preferences.

What these searches don't get you (which it sounds like you want/need) are the folks who existed in the PIN prior to the month of March and have newly opted into SCPR.

Cheers,
Tara Kieffer

I have submitted a ticket to have this included in discussing requirements for measuring results.   Your thoughts?
